There is tension currently in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, over claims that the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly had resigned his position. HE was said to have resigned from office late Tuesday night.
Some online media had earlier on Thursday, reported the resignation of Speaker Umar Imam from office.
However, Daily Sun can report that as at 11:45a.m on Thursday, Imam was still the Speaker of the Assembly.
However, unconfirmed reported alleged that some lawmakers were given huge monetary inducement to actualize the removal of the Speaker by a ’strong’ financial backer.
