Two persons are reported dead and two others injured when a clash occurred between Ungwan Shanu youth and Ungwan Sarki youth in Kaduna on Monday.
Our correspondent gathered that the Ungwan Shanu youth went to Ungwan Sarki to conduct operation 'Shara' around 9pm on Monday when the incident occurred.Four Ungwan Shanu youth Including Tasiu Abdulahi, Yusuf Garba, Abdulahi Sani and Nasiru Lawal were affected even though the number of youth that went for the operation could not be ascertained.
The Sarkin Tudun Ungwan Shanu, Alhaji Aliyu Gumi who confirmed the incident said deceased, Tasiu Abdulahi and Yusuf Garba have been buried according to Islamic rites.
He said, "From what we learnt, youth from U/Shanu attacked youth in U/Sarki, two people where killed, one was injured and is in police custody while the other one is receiving treatment at Barau Dikko Hospital in Kaduna.
"I do not know how many of them were involved except for the four that were affected two of which are orphans. During the burial of the deceased, I counseled the youth of these kinds of attitudes, I also told them to obey the laws and order of the land as that is the sure way to finding lasting peace."
He said, "Just recently, we had a meeting with Imams in the area including the including the new Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque and appealed to the to call on the youth to stop killing one another for peace to reign."
He noted that Imam's should include in their sermons the importance of morality and advocated that Imam's should uniformly focus on particular topics every Friday in every mosque with a view to addressing the menace.
He also urged the government to emulate Kano state and rotate Imam's of mosques saying, "When Imam's are changed periodically, there will be no room to gather support from followers and cause disunity."
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman confirmed the incident and said it is being investigated.
