People's Choice - My Chat With DJ Ussy


Please introduce yourself
my name is Usman Olamilekan Ilufoye aka Dj Ussy, i was born and raised in kaduna but originally from Offa in Kwara State,

When did you start DJing - and what or who were your early passions and influences?

started Dj work in 2008 but blow into a full Pro in 2012, my early passion was singing but along the line sound got me into Dj work.


What are currently your main challenges as a DJ? 

every career has got its own challenges and Dj work is no exception but for me i think the continous learning nature of the job but so far its been fun.

If you had the power to erase & abolish one musical genre -- which one would you abolish for all eternity?

Am a big fan of music and all musical genre has just been great . listen to almost all kinds of music


Tell me about your most embarrassing moment?

Wow......that day wasnt funny sha , its the day fans boo me on stage when my CD player refuse to pick up back then when Ussy was still a learner sha but i took it as a challenge and went on to become the most prefered Dj in Gamji Park till date they still trip in anyday am playing there.

What sports do you enjoy doing?
I will say Karate, the game has got some discipline and self control thing that helps one become a better person when it comes to managing one's emotion

What is one track that got popular that you can't stand?

I  will say Kabiyesi Dr Sid


What single night out has been the most memorable 

It has to be Kebbi Beach Soccer Gala and Award Night , Omo that Night eeeeeh. 


any celeb crushes? 

 na miss Khedike oooo 'Chidinma" O boy the  girl too Normal........



What part of Nigeria are you from?

I be Original Omo Yoruba, Representing Offa aka small London in Kwara State



What do you do when not working?

I  listen to Songs, Gym a little and hang out with my guys men 

What is one mistake you see a lot of up and coming DJs making? / What advice would you give to aspiring DJs?

not willing to learn and upgrade their skills and also not wanting to be mentored. my word of advice to be is simple never stop learning and always respect any Dj who might want to correct you no matter his level becos this days pikin fit correct papa and that one no mean say e no pass u.
