Kano Governor presents N209.8 billion 2017 budget proposal

The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has presented a budget proposal of N210 billion (specifically, N209,875,330,488) for the 2017 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
Under the proposal, which the governor tagged “Budget of Sustainable Self Reliance”, N130,488,682.677 was projected for capital expenditure and N79,370,647.811billion for recurrent expenditure.
Mr. Ganduje said the budget would be funded by an expected internally generated revenue of N143.7 billion and N99.990 billion expected federal allocations.
Works and Housing Ministry got the lion share, receiving N43.72 billion, followed by Education with N17.5 billion.
The governor said the government was allocating the water resources ministry N13.5 billion to improve water supply across the state.
N10 billion was allocated to the Health Ministry, Agricultural Development got N6.6 billion while the ministry of Land and Physical Planning received N16.8 billion.
Mr. Ganduje said the budget was planned to consolidate on the development efforts of his government and to make life more meaningful for the people of the state.
