SHEHU SANI: SENATOR URGES WOMEN TO JOIN POLITICS

Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has called on Women in the country to join politics.
Speaking during a meeting with Business Women drawn from Kaduna South and Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State on Sunday 12 June 2016, Sani said many women don’t even know their representatives since 1999.
“I stand here as a Senator of the People. A lot of women especially from this part of the state have distance themselves from the people they elect.”
“Many of the business women don’t even know the names of their representatives since 1999. Politics is not as dirty as they think. If you don’t have interest in politics, it will not have interest in you. Women, especially those in business must join politics,” Shehu Sani said.
“Everyone here can be a Senator,” Sani said adding, “Kaduna people in this side of the river are not politically active like the people in the other ride of the River. There is inferiority complex. Out of the people who have come to meet me, 99 percent of them are from the other side of the river.”
“Some people think they can only do politics where their religion is the majority. That is not good.”
“As someone who is now representing Kaduna Central, if I had said I will not contest the election because I don’t have money, I won’t have been there. I belief in miracle. I told my friends that I will be there and I am a Senator today,” Sani added.
Sani urged the Women to form co-operatives so that their voice will be heard adding that his office will handle some of the demands of the business women.
“Must of your request will be handled in my office. Others will be forwarded to the federal government for quick intervention,” Sani added.
Leader of the Business Women group, Grace Istifanus said the present state of the econmy was affecting their businesses.
