Goodluck Jonathan returns to Otuoke after arriving Nigeria

Former president Goodluck Jonathan has arrived in Bayelsa after he returned to Nigeria.
It was reported that a few hours after his return to Nigeria through the Port Harcourt International airport in Rivers on Wednesday, June 1, the former president went to his home town in Otuoke
Friends and well-wishers were around to welcome the former president back to the country.

Nigerians also took to social media to welcome Jonathan who has been out of the country to the United Kingdom and Cote d’Ivoire for weeks.
It was alleged that Jonathan had gone on exile to evade arrest from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegations of corrupt practices that occured during his administration with the most notable being the misappropriation of arms fund for political campaigns.

Jonathan had denied that he had taken refuge in Cote d’Ivoire and stated that he was only resting in the foreign land.
Several persons that served during the administration of the former president have either been arrested by the anti-graft agency or are facing investigation. Some former officials have reportedly returned monies to the EFCC.
It was reported that former president, Olusegun Obasanjo advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to name looters as he had scheduled to do on May 29.
Obasanjo reportedly told Buhari that if he did, it will result in problem but he should continue to recover stolen funds.
“You know these looters have hangers-on and beneficiaries that are willing to die for them.
“The truth is that corruption is the biggest industry in this country. Now, if you name the looters, you are fighting an entrenched cabal and this government can do without such battle for now.”
