Police avert crisis in Kaduna, city peaceful ON proactive move by the Kaduna state

 commissioner of police, Agyole Abeh to patrol the streets of Kaduna with some Igbo traders on Thursday and Friday calmed nerves as tension mounted in the city over possible reprisal attacks on Igbos in the city following alleged attacks on Northerners in the state. The commissioner of police who had earlier met with the president General of the Igbo Community assured all residents of the state that the police were ready to protect them and their properties. The commissioner who was joined by his deputy as well as his assistant commissioners addressed Igbo traders at Ori Apata after patrolling Katsina and Ahmadu   Bello way where he noted with satisfaction that shops owned by Igbo traders were open, contrary to reports on the social media that the Igbos did not open their shops. Also on Friday, the commissioner of police who led the patrol team through some streets in the city quickly dispersed some urchins who had gathered at the central market, ostensibly to foment trouble. He told traders at Ori Apata area of the city that they should go about their business as the police was ready to protect them and their businesses. “I am happy to note that here, there are Igbos, Hausas and Fulani as well as other tribes who are smiling and not frowning. They are going about their businesses. I do not know where the stories about Igbos closing their shops are coming from but I want to assure you that the Kaduna state police command and other security agencies are here to protect you and your businesses” he assured. The president general of the Igbo community in the state, Mr. Nola thanked the commissioner of police for his prompt action, noting that majority of Igbos are peace loving people who want to do business and make their place of business better than they met it.
