Non-indigenes hold key to peace in Kaduna

The community Leadership Forum, made up of leaders of non-indigenous ethnic groups in Kaduna State, has called on the state government to involve its members in the bid to find lasting peace in Kaduna State.

Leaders of the forum at a press conference in Kaduna, said their neutrality put them in a better position to interact with all parties in the disputes and to offer objective suggestions to the government towards resolving the crises.

Speaking on behalf of the leaders, the Onu of Igala community in Kaduna, Chief Joseph Daikwo and the President-General of the Yoruba Community in Kaduna, Chief Abdulganiyu Oguntoyibo, said despite many efforts to intervene, the state government had not invited them to be part of the process to ensure lasting peace.

“We can settle the problem because the communities do not have a mindset towards us. They will tell us their minds, so we want the government to bring us closer to it so that we can help. We’ve written to the government several times but no reply, not even an acknowledgement. We want the government to get us involved,” they said.
