As a Man Thinketh - By George Makeri

My Traducers had no choice but to concede that George Makeri writes well - take the writing away and he is empty. Question is, is it that I write well? Certainly no - there are better writers than me who pale when they are standing near me. This is because it is not the wellness of my writing that they speak of, it is the ideas it conveys. It is how these ideas are in synch with the goodness inherent in their souls because God created man good before man becomes evil. Besides, the world is ruled by men of ideas.

When a thinker meets another thinker, there is a quick connection between the two based on the mating of the minds. Yesterday as I was at the southern Kaduna economic summit, Dr. Manzo Maigari bragged about how they collected hectares of land for some certain persons to use for agriculture. Elder Luka Binniyat stood up and spoke my mind. He frowned against excluding the host community from the profit sharing formula based on the land use act and warned against further collection of the people's land without such arrangements. I feel connected to Luka Binniyat based on ideas emanating from good thinking. I told Kyana Sale, sitting beside me, how much I love and respect the mind of the man Luka Binniyat.

Then I got talking with Azzaman Ayuba Azzaman, and we analysed the negative conclusion of one of El-Rufai's economic adviser who said southern Kaduna men are lazy, only the women are working. We were wondering at how that scumbag will insult us thus, because we both got connected there. We reasoned that they deny our better qualified youth admission into tertiary institutions but give same to their worse qualified youth. Check the recently released admission list into ABU and other schools to understand my take. They deny our physically and intellectually more befitting youth admission into NDA but give same to their physically and intellectually worse befitting youth admission into NDA. Check the cadets that were recently murdered in the NDA, all southern Kaduna sons. When we celebrated a southern Kaduna son for being the best student of Medicine in a British University, they didn't see that. They deny our people access to stalls at the Central market through open discrimination but give same to other non-Kaduna indigenes, thus necessitating the need to construct a Yakowa Market where southern Kaduna people will hold sway. They discriminated against us at any given opportunity and deny us some basic necessity only to turn around and call us lazy? In saner climes, that guy would have been shot down right there on the podium for such disrespectful blunder. Today, they are planning to take over our land in the name of agricultural revolution and the predators gathered the preys to teach them how to accept being preyed upon for the benefit of peaceful co-existence. The price for peaceful co-existence is where the predators will walk in, take the lands of the natives without respecting the land use act and expect the natives to jump and dance and celebrate the rape. I and Azzaman Azzaman looked deeply into this matter and connected some more. This is the connection I am talking about. Thinkers connect.

When a Yoruba man mounted the podium, I told Kyana Sale, that El-Rufai's Yoruba paddy-paddy and 'arrangenoni' in his family and friends government, are here to teach us how to think. I barely closed my mouth when the man began by saying some people here would be wondering what a Yoruba man has got to do in a southern Kaduna gathering. Immediately Kyana nudged me that the man heard me and we laughed it off. That's the connection of the minds. My traducers thought they were damaging me when they concluded that if you take away my thoughts, I am empty. Ofcourse, I will be empty without my thoughts. I am my thoughts and my thoughts are me. Even the scriptures reduced the whole identity of a man to be just his thoughts in the verse: "As a man thinketh, so he is."
