GOOD NEWS: Suspended Hon Jibrin now has a reason to be happy

– Abdulmumin Jibrin remains an enemy to many of his colleagues at the House of Representatives for blowing the whistle on the alleged padding of the 2016 budget
– Just coming out of suspension, he has been honoured as a major anti-corruption crusader in far-away London
The suspended member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin , has been honoured by the African Voice, a London-based newspaper organisation.
Jibrin, facing suspension for allegedly blowing the whistle on alleged wide-scale corruption in National Assembly, was honoured awith the ‘African Voice Leadership in Legislative Governance’ awards 2016 for his commitment to legislative duties and fight against corruption in Nigeria.



Jibrin was recently suspended by the House of Representatives for accusing Speaker Yakubu Dogara, his deputy, Yusuf Lasun, chief whip Alhassan Doguwa, minority leader Leo Ogor and a few other members of padding the 2016 budget.
A statement from the lawmaker’s office to NAIJ.com said a letter signed by the publisher/editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Mike Abiola, described Mr Jibrin as a deserving recipient of the award.
The statement said: “The African Voice Leadership in Governance Awards recognises African leaders who have shown dedication to developing their state/countries, by demonstrating exemplary leadership.

“The attention of the international community has been drawn to your commitment to the people of Nigeria and Kano state in particular. Your effort in helping to eradicate corruption is commendable.
“The 20th African Voice Newspaper Leadership in Legislative Governance awards Investiture ceremony will take place on Saturday 5 November, 2016 and will be attended by foreign and commonwealth officials, African diplomats in the UK, British politicians, members of parliament and influential business leaders.
