Potato firm partners Plateau on peace-building

A Jos-based potato company, Vicampro Farms Nigeria Limited, has joined the Plateau State government to promote the peace, building project of the Gov. Simon Lalong administration.
The company has initiated a football tournament to bring youths across the ethnic and religious divides together.
The football tournament, in its second year has 26 teams registered from across the state.
Speaking at this year’s opening ceremony held at Bukuru Mini-Stadium, Manging Director of the company, Agbogo Michael, represented by the company secretary, Adeola Adeniran, said the tournament was the contribution of the company to supporting the Gov Lalong administration in building peace in the state.
“We understand the peace project is a priority project to the present administration in the state and we feel duty-bound to lend our support towards promoting peace in our host community.
Sector 5 commander of ‘Operation Safe Haven’ deployed to restore peace in the state, Col Uriah Opuene, who spoke at the occasion, commended the company for uniting the people of the state, regardless of tribe or religion, using sports.
The opening match was between the defending champion Galacia FC and Selected-Begwa Academy of Riyom LGA.
